Think Creatively

Pittsburgh has some of the most ideal locations that provide iconic backdrops and beautiful scenery for amazing wedding photography. These areas offer vivid and everlasting settings for beautiful photos. If you have ever driven past the Mellon Pillars on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, you know exactly what I’m talking about.

The popularity of this location is evident in the amount of traffic it sees during a typical weekend. Usually, anywhere from 2 to 4 full wedding parties can be spotted waiting in line for their turn to be photographed with the pillars of the Mellon Institute of Industrial Research. You can tell from the photo to the right that I love the Mellon Pillars! I love any type of dramatic architecture that adds dimension and depth to wedding photos, which the Mellon Pillars certainly provide.

In addition to the Pillars, Pittsburgh has a wealth of gorgeousness and fabulosity that you cannot overlook when considering locations for your creative wedding photography. So here is where you can think creatively, not collectively. When considering locations for your creative portraiture, think outside the box and discuss your ideas with your photographer. Pittsburgh has some of the most fantastical bridges, but rather than just capturing the perfunctory shot of you and your honey in front of the bridge, pull a wham-slammy (as I like to call it) and stand up on the bridge to see things from a completely different perspective.

Thank you Clemente Bridge for being such an awesome part of our day!

So take your blinders off and look around with open eyes. You never know when an otherwise ordinary setting will provide a striking backdrop for some uber-cool wedding photos. Remember that your wedding photography is a collaborative effort.  Don’t let an overly crowded wedding day schedule rob you of the opportunity to take advantage of the beauteous and dazzling delights that our city has to offer.
